Hillsborough fire calls

On April 26 at approximately 12:16 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to 555 Hillsborough Road for a report of a structure fire. Arriving units discovered the front of the home was fully engulfed in flames and heavy dark smoke. The fire quickly spread to the main area of the home prior to the Hillsborough Township Fire Department being able to extinguish the fire. One resident was treated for smoke inhalation by Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) EMS (emergency medical services). The fire is not considered suspicious but remains under investigation by detectives from the Hillsborough Township Police Department and the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety.

The following agencies responded: Hillsborough Fire Marshall, Hillsborough OEM (Office of Emergency Management), Hillsborough Fire Units 36, 37, 38, Manville Fire Unit 42, Millstone Valley Fire Unit 28, Montgomery Fire Units 45 and 46, Finderne Fire Unit 30, Raritan Borough Fire Unit 52, Bradley Gardens Fire Unit 21, East Franklin Fire Unit 27, Somerset Fire Unit 56, RWJ EMS, Montgomery EMS, Hillsborough Township Building Department, and PSE&G.

On April 16, at approximately 3:44 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to 15 Valley Road for the report of a fire in the crawl space. Upon arrival a small amount of smoke could be observed coming from the crawl space access. Responding fire units extinguished the fire which was contained to insulation. The fire is not considered to be suspicious but remains under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Police Department and the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety. The home had very minor damage and was deemed habitable by the Hillsborough Township Building Department.

On April 13 at approximately 12:03 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department responded to 115 Wertsville Road for a report of a structure fire. Arriving units discovered a barn on the property utilized for storing hay and equipment partially caught fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire expeditiously. The barn was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no injuries sustained. The fire is not considered suspicious, and the cause of the fire was a faulty electrical panel.
