The Princeton Public Schools Board of Education hired J. Andrew Harris to become the district’s next school business administrator/board secretary.

The school board approved bringing Harris on board to replace current School Business Administrator/Board Secretary Matthew Bouldin. He has resigned to take the same position in the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District in Bergen County.

Harris, who is the school business administrator/board secretary in the South Hunterdon Regional School District, will start work in Princeton on July 1. He will earn an annual salary of $190,000.

School board president Dafna Kendal was pleased with the school board’s decision to hire Harris.

“What I am most excited about is Mr. Harris’s experience as a teacher before he became a business administrator,” she said. “We are very excited that this perspective will ensure your decisions are always student-centered, balancing fiscal responsibility with a commitment to teaching and learning.

“Welcome to Princeton, Mr. Harris.”

Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Muhlenberg College and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Rider University.

He began teaching mathematics in 2003 and later served as a math coach and a math supervisor. He assumed responsibility for planning academic and administrative efforts as supervisor of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and district projects for the South Hunterdon Regional School District in 2020.

During his tenure in the South Hunterdon Regional School District, he supervised several large-scale construction projects, replacement of heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and assorted building renovations. He managed the facilities, grounds, transportation and food service departments.

Harris said he is looking forward to joining the Princeton Public Schools at a pivotal time for the school district. Voters passed a $89.1 million bond referendum to expand and renovate four of the district’s six schools in January.

“I am excited to take on these new projects and to support the Board of Education and the incoming superintendent in advancing Princeton’s tradition of excellence,” he said.
