Jewish lecture series explores Sophie Tucker

The American Jewish Experience Lecture Series, presented by the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, continues for its 20th consecutive year with a presentation by Dr. Marcia Midler entitled “Outrageous Sophie Tucker: Cultural Rebel, Comedienne, Last of the Red Hot Mamas” at 10 a.m. on Oct. 3 at Jewish Family Services, 52 Concordia Shopping Center, Monroe.

Before leaving academia for a corporate career at AT&T and Telcordia, Midler taught English at University College at Rutgers University. She leads several book discussion groups, lectures frequently and 10 years ago she began a current events group at Regency at Monroe called “News and Views.”
