Authorities identify motorcyclist killed in Monday accident

The Lawrence Township Police Department announced yesterday that the motorcyclist killed in a motorcycle accident earlier in the week was a 58-year-old Hamilton man named Walter Harris Jr.

According to police, Harris’ motorcycle was struck by a car at the intersection of Route 1 and Franklin Corner Road.

Officials said Harris was crossing Route 1 from Bakers Basin Road to Franklin Corner Road when a Volkswagen Jetta traveling south on Route 1 struck the motorcycle at 12:21 a.m., police said.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the 35-year-old Hamilton Township resident who was driving the Volkswagen was not injured.

No charges will be filed, police said.
