Fresh off the Democratic convention, the Hillsborough Democrats will be hosting an evening to meet the candidates, discuss issues and present their concerns.
With an eye on the general election in less than four months, the campaign night is slated for Wed., Aug. 3, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Avalon Assisted Living Center, 393 Amwell Road.
Party officials hope the event will help engage members in order to kickstart a push toward victory in the fall.
Local Democrats are sought to energize their neighborhoods in support of the entire Democratic ticket in Hillsborough: Hillary Clinton/Tim Kaine for President/VP, Peter Jacob for Congressional District 7, Maria Rodriguez for Somerset County Freeholder, Darrin Russo for Somerset County Sheriff, and Laurie Poppe for Township Committee.
Rodriguez and Russo will be in attendance, along with Democratic State Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker. Representatives from the other campaigns are also expected to attend.
Anyone interested in attending or learning how to volunteer for local, congressional and national campaigns can call John Beggiato at 908-505-5150, email chair@borodems.org or visit www.HillsboroughDemocrats.org.
