MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown Planning Board has carried a vote on applicant’s proposal to expand, modify and renovate the facilities at Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) to Feb. 5.

Previously, several homeowners on Lehigh Drive in Middletown, which neighbors the CBA property, have asserted that the plan submitted by Christian Brothers Academy will negatively impact their properties, exacerbating what they described as a routine flooding problem.

On Jan. 8, civil engineer Jim Kennedy, who represents the applicant, said the application has been modified to remediate the concerns risen by residents.

Kennedy said new features such as the inclusion of detention basins and storage beds beneath proposed turf athletic fields would help capture water.

He said the remediations would provide “infiltration and detention that doesn’t exist today.”
