A 14-year-old boy died on Feb. 4 when he lost control of his dirt bike on the towpath in the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park and fell into the canal in Lawrence Township, according to a spokesman for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

The boy suffered a head injury, the spokesman said. He was pulled out of the canal, and a passerby stopped to apply CPR. The New Jersey State Police and the New Jersey State Park Police responded to the scene to assist.
