Pennington Borough calls off council meetings for the rest of March

Pennington Borough officials have canceled council meetings beginning on March 16.

The decision is an effort to follow recommendations for social distancing, according to borough officials.

All meetings scheduled from March 16-31 have been cancelled until further notice, according to borough officials.

“Any meetings that are rescheduled will be noticed,” said Betty Sterling, borough clerk.

The announcement by borough officials is in regards to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The decision follows Gov. Phil Murphy’s  order announcing on March 16 the banning of gatherings of more than 50 people, the closure of all pre-kindergarten, K-12 schools, higher education institutions, casinos, racetracks, theaters, gyms and all non-essential businesses.
