Fowler said Second Assistant Chief John Waltz reported that a large tree had fallen into the home, causing significant damage.

Waltz directed firefighters on the first arriving engine to investigate structural damage. The home’s utilities were secured before the structure was deemed uninhabitable, according to the press release.

The home’s utilities were further isolated by representatives of New Jersey Natural Gas and Jersey Central Power and Light. All responding units were cleared from the scene at 3:59 p.m., according to the press release.

Fowler reported that approximately 10 members from Middletown Fire Company No. 1 responded and no firefighter injuries were reported while operating at the scene.

The Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s office and Building Department were notified, according to the press release.
