OLD BRIDGE – Members of the police, fire and first aid departments showed their support for frontline hospital employees at the Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center Old Bridge.

About 90 emergency vehicles and 100 first responders greeted hospital doctors and nurses with applauds and encouragement as they entered and exited the building on April 16, according to township officials.

In attendance were members from the Old Bridge Township Police Department, Laurence Harbor Fire Department, Madison Park Fire Department, Sayreville Fire Department, Laurence Harbor First Aid, Cheesequake Volunteer First Aid, Red and White First Aid, Madison Park First Aid, Old Bridge Township Emergency Medical Service, Old Bridge Office of Emergency Management, Old Bridge Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Old Bridge Police Chief William Volkert, Old Bridge Business Administrator Himanshu Shah and Old Bridge Mayor Owen Henry.

“During this pandemic, doctors and nurses are on the frontlines helping infected patients,” Henry said. “They risk their own safety in order to help others. Their sacrifice is appreciated and the least we can do is cheer them on.”

The hour-long event in Old Bridge followed similar appreciation events held at Hackensack Meridian JFK Medical Center in Edison and Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center Perth Amboy on April 10.
