Fire companies train together to hone vehicle extrication skills

The Union Fire Company, Pennington Fire Company and the Prospect Heights Fire Company of Ewing Township participated in two days of vehicle extrication training the weekend of Oct. 18.

Vehicle extrication is used in trying reach an individual in a car crash when pieces of the vehicle need to be removed.

The training was held behind the Union Fire Company firehouse in Titusville.

“Our first responders practice frequently to keep their skills sharp so they are ready to respond to any emergency,” said Mike Chipowsky, who served as president of the Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad from 1993-2006.
