Election update: Sayreville council race still close

There were elections for seats on the municipal governing body and Board of Education in both Sayreville on Nov. 3.

The results listed here reflect what has been posted online by the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office as of 7:07 p.m. Nov. 6. Mail-in ballots can be received through Nov. 10, and provisional ballots will be tabulated post-Nov. 11, according to the county.

The results are not final and it is not known when the results will be final.

The results of the election will remain unofficial until they are certified.

• Sayreville Borough Council – Two three-year terms are available on the Township Council. Democratic incumbent Mary J. Novak has 5,709 votes. Democratic incumbent Vincent J. Conti has 5,468 votes. Republican Danielle Zaleski has 4,006 votes. Republican Karen Bailey Bebert has 3,826 votes. There are also five write-in votes.

 

• Sayreville Board of EducationEight candidates are seeking three available three-year terms.

The terms of board members Phyllis Batko, Christopher Callahan, Danielle Pieloch and Karen Rubio will end in December. Batko and Rubio are not seeking re-election.

Alison Napolitano has 4,880 votes. Eloy Fernandez has 4,426 votes. Eileen Pabon has 4,203 votes. Christopher Callahan has 2,106 votes. Jessica J. Esposito has 1,814 votes. Danielle N. Pieloch has 1,519 votes. Zoe Katsilis has 1,104 votes. Syed Muhammed S. Ali has 757 votes. There are 28 write-in votes.
