It is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Lawrence Township.

Incumbent school board members Jo Ann L. Groeger and Kevin Van Hise are being challenged by Lauren Berger, Falk Engel, Drew Greenspan and Robert Pluta. The term is for three years.

Groeger, who is seeking re-election, is retired. She taught in the Lawrence Township Public Schools. She has lived in Lawrence for 45 years.

Van Hise, who also is seeking another term, grew up in Lawrence Township and graduated from Lawrence High School. He is an attorney.

Berger has lived in Lawrence since 2019. She is a receptionist at the Mercedes Benz of Princeton dealership on Brunswick Pike.

Engle is an attorney and a lifelong Lawrence resident.

Greenspan is a certified K-6 teacher, who has spent time as a guest lecturer/professor at The College of New Jersey.

Pluta grew up in Lawrence Township and graduated from Lawrence High School. He owns Leonardo II’s restaurant on Brunswick Pike.

The candidates forum will follow the standard League of Women Voters format, which starts with an opening statement from each candidate.

Candidates will then field questions from the public that were emailed in advance to LWVofLawrence@gmail.com. The deadline to email questions is Oct. 5.

Candidates will make a closing statement to wrap up the forum, which is expected to take about an hour.

A preview of the candidates, including a brief biography and their position on school board issues, will be available at www.Vote411.org prior to the forum.

For residents who missed the online forum, a tape of the event will be made available at www.LWVLT.org and on YouTube.
