The Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education has accepted a $10,000 donation from the CentraState Healthcare Foundation, Freehold Township.
Board members voted to accept the donation during a meeting held on Nov. 18 at Howell High School. An item on the meeting agenda indicated the foundation’s donation will go to Freehold Township High School.
When asked why the foundation was making the donation to the high school, Nancy Barone, vice president of development and volunteer services with the CentraState Healthcare Foundation, said, “The CentraState foundation donated funds for a new ceiling projector in the Freehold Township High School auditorium.
“The school administration has been very generous in allowing CentraState to use the auditorium for events, providing many hours of staff time, audiovisual support and room set-up.
“At our last public meeting there, we learned they were in need of a new projector. This gift is our way of thanking them for being a great community partner over the years,” Barone said.
Asked to comment on the foundation’s donation, Superintendent of Schools Charles Sampson said, “The Freehold Regional High School District and CentraState Medical Center have enjoyed a long-term partnership that has spanned decades.
“We are continually grateful for this mutually beneficial affiliation that serves both our communities.
“We are grateful for CentraState’s continued generosity which most recently included this donation to upgrade the projector in Freehold Township High School’s auditorium,” the superintendent said.
