SPOTSWOOD – Spotswood High School graduated 198 students in the Class of 2016.
Graduates of the Class of 2016 will attend two- and four-year colleges and universities in the fall, start their studies at trade schools, enter military service and join the workforce.
By graduation day on June 17, the graduates had reported more than $7.8 million in scholarship money, according to a statement prepared by the school.
Alexander Bernstein ranked number one in the class. With a 4.66 GPA, he was a part of the National Honor Society, DECA, varsity cross-country, varsity winter track and field, varsity spring track and field and junior varsity soccer. He will attend Rutgers University’s Honors College with a major in computer science.
Nicholas DiMaria ranked number two. With a 4.58 GPA, he was part of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Class Council, Heroes and Cool Kids, concert band, wind ensemble, jazz band, varsity soccer, varsity winter track and field and varsity spring track and field. He will attend Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken to study computer engineering.
Katherine Wasserman ranked number three. With a 4.52 GPA, she was part of the concert band, wind ensemble, Math League, Community Service Club, Student Council, varsity winter track, varsity spring track and varsity soccer. She will attend Columbia University to study neuroscience.
David Guardiola ranked number four. Achieving a 4.46 GPA, he took part in Hackpace, National Honor Society, Student Council, Class Council, Community Service Club and Heroes and Cool Kids. He will pursue a computer engineering degree at the University of Pennsylvania.
Grace Mehr ranked number five. Earning a GPA of 4.45, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Heroes and Cool Kids, Math League, DECA and varsity basketball. She plans to study psychology at Syracuse University.
Nikki Harley ranked number six with a GPA of 4.25. She was part of the National Honor Society, Heroes and Cool Kids, dance and junior varsity cheerleading. She will attend the University of Connecticut for animal science/pre-veterinary.
Lexi Bruno ranked number seven. Achieving a 4.22 GPA, she was part of the National Honor Society, Community Service Club, Kids Create, Yearbook, Photography Club and International Club. She was accepted to Stockton University to study forensic psychology.
Tali Zacks ranked number eight in the graduation class. With a GPA of 4.22, she was also a member of the National Honor Society, Music Club, Charger Pride Alliance, Drama Club and Math League. She will attend the New College of Florida with a currently undecided major.
Erika Szumlicz ranked number nine. She earned a GPA of 4.21 and took part in the Yearbook, Lead for Diversity, Community Service Club, International Club and Photography Club. She was accepted to Monmouth University and will study psychology.
Alexa Raba ranked number 10 in the class. With a 4.19 GPA, she was also a member of the National Honor Society, Heroes and Cool Kids, Peer to Peer Connections, DECA and varsity softball. She will attend Felician University in Bergen County to study biology/pre-physical therapy.
