Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to lure a Hopewell Valley Central High School student into his car as she was walking near the school Sept. 8, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

The student was walking on the Pennington-Titusville Road near the high school at 12:30 p.m. and had stopped for a minute when a man in a blue Honda CR-V stopped on the road near her, police said.

The man allegedly asked her if she needed a ride, police said. She told the driver she did not need a ride because she was walking to school. The man persisted and asked her again.

She refused a few more times and then the man sped off, police said. The student returned to school and told staff about the incident.

The driver was described as a white, middle-aged man. He had long brown hair in a pony tail, and some facial hair. He was driving a blue Honda CR-V.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information should contact police Detective Adam Liotta at 609-737-3100, ext. 5460, or aliotta@hopewelltwp.org.

Police Chief James Rosso said the investigation is still active and will update the public if more information becomes available. He added that there will be an increased presence at the Hopewell Valley schools.
