Young Patriots Day will begin with a flag raising ceremony.

The goal of Young Patriots Day is to “bring awareness, understanding, and appreciation of our struggle for independence and especially of the critical role New Jersey played in the Revolution to a new and expanding audience of young people,” according to the Princeton Battlefield Society.

During the afternoon, visitors can watch the 3rd New Regiment – Jersey Greys, a dedicated group of Revolutionary War reenactors performing 18th century military drills as well as cannon and musket firing demonstrations.

Reenactors portraying Gen. George Washington and Benjamin Franklin will also be on hand along with other living historians to talk about the Revolution and colonial life.

Visitors can tour the Princeton Battlefield and the Clarke House and learn about other local historic sites. They can also join in activities just for kids, and all young patriots who are registered in advance will receive a souvenir to remember the day, according to Princeton Battlefield Society.
