NORTH BRUNSWICK – Dogs of all breeds occupied the open fields of North Brunswick Community Park for a day dedicated to “man’s best friend.”
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 25, the North Brunswick Humane Association (NBHA) hosted its 18th annual Dog Walk-A-Thon & Adoption Day.
Dogs had the opportunity to compete for prizes in friendly activities that included a scavenger hunt, musical mats, and a costume contest where dogs marched in the Parade of Pooches.
Attendees seeking a furry companion were welcomed to Rescue Row, where various dogs from local rescues and shelters were waiting to be adopted.
Several dog-related vendors and information booths were in attendance for those interested in learning about available products and pet services.
The event also featured musical entertainment from Good Time Party Music and food from Big John’s Gourmet Burgers and Los 3 Reyes Ice Cream.
As a non-profit organization, NBHA is focused on educating the Greater Brunswick area about the humane treatment of animals in relation to pet ownership, adoption practices, and the protection of strays.
“Through our networking, we partner with local rescues and shelters to provide venues for adoptions, subsidize spay/neuter costs and provide other support for disenfranchised animals in our community,” according to NBHA.
“We also collect and distribute pet food to shelters and colony caretakers, assist with finding lost pets, provide humane education and promote policies to protect animals and strengthen penalties for animal related offenses. We rely 100 percent on volunteers and donations.”
