Speaker to share story of ‘Shanghai Ghetto’ Feb. 17 in East Brunswick

The Brandeis National Committee, Middlesex Chapter, will present a program titled “The Shanghai Ghetto: A Personal Remembrance” 1 p.m. Feb. 17 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.

Guest presenter Henry Meisel, who migrated to Shanghai after Kristallnacht in 1938, will offer his personal remembrance. He and his family remained in the Shanghai Ghetto when the city was occupied by the Japanese in 1942. In addition to the talk, a documentary on the ghetto will be screened.

Admission is free of charge. The public is invited to attend.

The committee’s February Social Justice Collection will benefit Ronald McDonald House. Guests are asked to bring items for the house and its residents.
