While principal of the elementary school where the daughters of Monmouth County sheriff candidate Col. Jeff Cantor attended, I had the privilege to get to know Jeff Cantor and his wife. Ava. There is no better model or example of someone who ought to seek elected office. Col. Cantor is exceptionally well qualified for the position he is seeking.

Col. Cantor, when not deployed in the Army Reserves, significantly contributed to our school over the years. He proudly yet modestly shared his experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq, where he served while his children were at our school.

He attended and spoke at our Veterans Day ceremonies, judged our Famous Scenes in American History Displays, helped us with collections that we sent to armed services personnel overseas, and conducted assemblies explaining how our armed forces made specific efforts to address the needs of children in those countries with education and health services.

Col. Cantor, a Marlboro councilman, has an extensive and impressive resume of public service. What the resume does not show is his presence and natural leadership skills, characterized by a caring and kind nature, and a focused interest and respect for the views and needs of others that transcends political affiliation.

The personal and patriotic sacrifices Col. Cantor has made to serve his community and country cannot be underestimated. When proven leadership skills, abilities and experiences are seen in a candidate for public office, regardless of political affiliation, this becomes an opportunity for the electorate to not only honor, but also benefit from such an extraordinary candidate for public service.
