JAMESBURG – After more than eight decades in business, Mendokers Quality Bakery has announced its immediate closure.

“It is with [a] heavy heart full of sorrow that we must announce after 84 years of business, we will be forced to permanently close our doors as of Monday, Oct. 24,” Ed and Nicole Mendoker posted on the bakery’s Facebook page on Oct. 23.

“We have weathered many storms together in this great town and have celebrated so many special occasions with so many families over the years. We consider our loyal customers as part of our extended family, many we greet by name, and it is heartbreaking to see our time come to an end. We have done everything in our power to keep our ovens hot and our handcrafted items on the shelf, but have become burdened with too many setbacks that we cannot overcome. We will not let our quality suffer for any reason,” the post read.

“We are truly sorry that we will no longer be able to break bread with everyone and pray that everyone will find what the need in their future endeavors,” the Mendokers said.

The family could not be reached directly by press time.
