Health, wellness programs coming to library

The East Brunswick Public Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center, will host two upcoming health-and-wellness programs.

Ira Merkel, M.D, gastroenterologist and clinical associate professor of medicine at Rutgers Medical School, Newark, will present “How to Speak to Your Doctor” 7 p.m. Nov. 9. The program will offer tips and suggestions on how patients can get the most out of their medical appointments. Registration is not required.

A Medicare workshop is set for 6 pm. Nov. 14. Topics will include Medicare changes in 2017, understanding plans and policies, and the biggest mistakes made by beneficiaries. Registration is recommended. To register, call the library at 732-390-6767.

Both programs, which are free of charge and open to the public, are part of the library’s “Just for the Health of It” consumer health-and-wellness initiative. For more information, log on to www.wellinks.org.
