Havdalah and musical program slated Feb. 4

Neve Shalom of Metuchen will hold Havdalah on Feb. 4, led by the fourth graders, at 250 Grove Ave. Adult members of the synagogue will sing the music of Jerry Herman, including “Hello Dolly,” “Mame,” “The Best of Times” and other selections as well.

Herman is an American composer and lyricist known for his work in Broadway musical theater. He composed the scores for the hit Broadway musicals “Hello, Dolly!” “Mame” and “La Cage aux Folles.” He was nominated for the Tony Award five times and won twice for “Hello, Dolly!” and “La Cage aux Folles.” In 2009, he received the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theater. He is a recipient of the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors.
