African Americans have a rich history in central New Jersey, although these stories have rarely been told. A new museum on preserved land in the nearby Sourland Mountains is working to change that. Learn how our region’s natural landscape played a role in creating history – from the Delaware River as a roadway for slaves who became freed men to the African Americans who played a crucial role in the Revolutionary Crossing of the Delaware River.
