SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Members of Noor-Ul-Iman School recently won first place in a science competition.

The team of 18 students and two alternates attended the New Jersey Science Regional Competitions of the New Jersey Science Olympiad on Jan. 14 at Camden County College.

The team, consisted of mainly middle school students and four ninth graders, competed against 19 other public and private schools and students prepared for 10 different events ranging from study events like Anatomy and Physiology, Green Generation, Astronomy, Road Scholar, Picture This and Bio Process Lab to building events like bridge building, bottle rocket and wind power and Write It Do It.

The students placed in the top places for every single event which led to their first place overall. There are three regional tournaments in New Jersey, and the top 26 teams from all three regionals will compete at the state competition on March 8.

“As a coach it is a very proud moment for me and the entire school community. The students worked extremely hard and were preparing for their events since October, meeting twice every week after school,” said teacher Rana Alam. “We set high standards for them and they surpassed our expectations. I am so very proud of each of them.”
