County offers beekeeping workshop on Feb. 27

The Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County will host a free introductory beekeeping workshop from 10 a.m. to noon, Feb. 27, at the EARTH Center, Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave., South Brunswick.

Participants will learn the basics of establishing a hive on their own property, the positive impact hobbyist beekeepers have had on the environment’s honeybee population and the best kind of plants to use as pollen sources in a garden.

If weather permits, the lecture will be followed by a brief walk outside.

Registration is required as space is limited. To register, call 732-398-5262 by Feb. 24. No “walk-ins” will be permitted.
