MILLSTONE – A resident of Hightstown was ticketed by the New Jersey State Police following a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Sweetmans Lane and Stillhouse Road on the afternoon of April 2.
According to state police Trooper I Lawrence Peele, Jonathan Olcheski, 25, of Hightstown, was driving south on Stillhouse Road in a Ford Focus when he allegedly failed to observe a stop sign and struck a Ford Escape that was traveling on Sweetmans Lane. Olcheski was alone in his vehicle, Peele said.
The Escape was being driven by Thomas Boehm, 68, of East Windsor. There was a 55-year-old woman in the car who police did not name. The force of the collision caused the Escape to flip onto its roof.
According to a press release from the Millstone Township Fire Company, firefighters under the direction of Lt. Mike Maloney responded to the scene at 3:53 p.m to assist the woman, who was trapped inside the vehicle.
State police troopers, who are responsible for covering Millstone, were called to the scene at 4 p.m, according to Peele.
MONOC paramedics and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel from Millstone and neighboring Monroe Township also responded to the scene.
The Millstone firefighters stabilized the Escape, removed the passenger door and cleared nearby tree branches. EMS workers, with assistance from firefighters, were able to free the woman from the Escape, according to the press release.
The woman was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, and was treated for what police described as minor injuries.
Neither Olcheski nor Boehm received hospital treatment after the collision. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Peele said Olcheski was issued a summons for failure to observe stop or yield signs and a summons for careless driving. The matter is pending court.
In another incident in Millstone, state police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Stagecoach and Stillhouse roads on the morning of April 6.
According to a press release from the Millstone Township Fire Company, firefighters responded to the scene at 11:43 a.m. and found one vehicle with the driver trapped inside.
EMS responders, the Millstone Township First Aid Squad and the Roosevelt First Aid Squad also responded to the scene.
The Millstone firefighters initiated patient care, stabilized the vehicle, and removed both driver side doors and the driver side support post. EMS responders, with assistance from firefighters, were able to free the driver from the vehicle, according to the press release. The driver was transported to CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.
No information was provided about the second vehicle that was involved in the collision, or the second driver, or any passengers who may have been in the vehicles.
On the afternoon of April 7, state police troopers responded to an incident in which a vehicle struck a utility pole at 455 Stagecoach Road. One person was transported to CentraState Medical Center in the wake of the incident.
According to a press release from the Millstone Township Fire Company, firefighters under the direction of Deputy Chief Jeff Wagner responded to the scene at 3:25 p.m. and found a car with the driver trapped inside.
EMS responders, the Roosevelt First Aid Squad and MONOC paramedics also responded to the scene.
The Millstone firefighters initiated patient care, stabilized the vehicle, and removed both driver side doors and the driver side support post. EMS workers, with assistance from firefighters, were able to free the driver from the vehicle, according to the press release.
No information about the driver or any passengers who may have been in the vehicle was provided in the press release.
State police could not be reached for additional information about the April 6 and April 7 incidents.
