RED BANK — Monmouth Arts will offer a sneak peek of “The Meddler” at 7:30 p.m. April 21 at Bow Tie Cinema, 51 Broad St. A reception featuring Cuban tapas, wine and soft drinks will be held from 5:45-7:15 p.m. at ChikyBoom, 51 Broad St.

The film, which stars Susan Sarandon, Rose Byrne and J.K. Simmons, is the story of recently widowed Marnie Minervini who happily relocates from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her daughter Lori, a successful screenwriter, and smothers her with motherly love. But when the dozens of texts, unexpected visits and conversations dominated by unsolicited advice force Lori to draw strict personal boundaries, Marnie finds ways to channel her eternal optimism and find a new purpose in life. The film will be screened at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.
