The Old Bridge Public Library, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, has scheduled two upcoming events to provide area gardeners with professional tips and assistance in time for spring planting.

The Middlesex County Master Gardeners will staff an informal drop-in gardening help desk 7-8:30 p.m. May 3. Representatives will be available to answer gardening questions about plant and vegetable gardening, pruning, shrub and lawn care and pest elimination. Patrons are asked to refrain from bringing in any plant samples or problem plants, but are encouraged to bring in photographs of the plants instead.

A program titled “Perennials for Sun or Shade” is planned for 11 a.m. May 9. Master Gardener Christy Van Horn will present a session on the importance of carefully selecting the proper plants and flowers to help ensure their viability.
