The Cranbury school district has launched a new webpage for the school’s referendum projects that will keep the everyone updated on construction.
The school administration announced on April 25 that the refreshed webpage was ready to go and now accessible at www.cranburyschool.org by selecting the construction updates tab.
“At the beginning of April, we broke ground on our Referendum Construction projects…so exciting,” Cranbury School principal and superintendent Jennifer Diszler exclaimed. “Since that time, we have been restructuring our webpage to include up-to-date floor layouts, timelines, photos and more.”
The revamped page has links which can be clicked on that take those interested to construction phases and timelines, updated drawing and plans, letters from Diszler, and updates and picture, and video messages on the progress of construction.
“The site includes a Construction Update Newsletter so that residents can stay in the loop with the progress of construction and other need-to-know information. We encourage you to visit the site to learn more about the construction,” Diszler added.
“In addition to the website, we will share consistent newsletter updates including photos with all of you. This first edition focuses on the Academic Commons and Main Office spaces, which are currently under construction.”
An official groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 9 to celebrate the first phase of construction for the new main office and academic commons.
When the ceremony took place construction had already been underway. Asbestos was removed during Spring Break in late March while students and staff were away.
The new front entrance of the school will be where the former school library entrance was located. When construction is finished the new main entrance where the school library entrance used to be leads into a security vestibule.
Students, staff and visitors will have the ability to go left to the main office area or right to the academic commons space.
The plans for the new main office include the nurse’s office, which is being brought into its own space as part of the main office, as well as a tech office, server room, conference room, and offices.
For the academic commons, space will be flexible where seats and tables can be moved for pre-K to eighth grade students. The space would also be used by the Cranbury community.
There are flexible classrooms in the academic commons that can be opened into one large space. A makerspace lab is also part of the academic commons and would be used for clubs, the library program, and housing for some robotics, according to a video message from Diszler explaining the main office and academic commons projects.
The completed construction of the main office and academic commons is projected for this fall. The aim is October barring any significant delays or issues.
