The application deadline for scholarships and grants from the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce (EMACC) Educational Foundation is 5 p.m. May 2. Scholarship awards and grants will be distributed in June.

Scholarship awards of $1,500 each will be made to nontraditional students in two categories — students at least age 25 who have returned to school and college students entering their junior or senior year who have completed 60 college credits.

In addition, the Foundation will be awarding grants to assist with the tuition and/or fees associated with post-high-school vocational, technical or certification programs. The amount of the grant will be no more than 50 percent of the cost of the program up to a maximum of $1,500.

To be eligible, applicants must live or work within the service area of the Chamber — Eatontown, Fair Haven, Fort Monmouth, Little Silver, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury and Tinton Falls — or be employed by a Chamber member regardless of location.

The applicant does not have to be an EMACC member, but must provide a recommendation by an EMACC member in good standing who is not a relative.

Applications are available at http://emacc.org/scholarship-application. Donations to support these awards can be mailed to the EMACC Educational Foundation, C/O EMACC, 8 Reckless Place, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
