SOUTH BRUNSWICK – South Brunswick had the lowest violent crime rate in 2014 for towns with more than 25,000 residents in Middlesex County, according to a report released on May 2.
“We are always committed to identifying and addressing the areas that cause crime in our community. The key to fighting crime is developing partnerships with all our community members. We have worked hard to develop relationships with our residents by having open communications about incidents and neighborhood meetings. It is this open dialogue that has created an engaged community,” Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said in a statement prepared by the South Brunswick Police Department.
South Brunswick is in the top 95 percent of the safest communities in the state, according to data from the recently released 2014 FBI Uniform Crime Report. The report indicated that South Brunswick had .2 incidents of violent crime per 1,000 people.
“This report is a positive sign, but our commitment to addressing quality of life issues and crime never ends. It is the men and women of the South Brunswick Police Department who make the difference day in and day out. We will all work to keep our community the safest it can be,” Hayducka said.
