EDISON — As New Jersey’s primary election nears, former President Bill Clinton made a stop at Edison High School last week to tell the people why he believes his wife, Hillary Clinton, is the best candidate for the president of the United States.

As the crowd filled the hot and stuffy Frank N. Cangelosi gymnasium, the Edison High School Band and Choir welcomed them with patriotic music on May 27.

A representative of the American Federation of Teachers charged up the crowd and Rep. Frank Pallone (D-Middlesex) welcomed the 42nd President of the United States to the home of Thomas Edison’s main laboratory.

“It’s hot in here,” said Clinton as he welcomed the crowd.

The president laid out Hillary Clinton’s plan to break down the barriers that hold too many New Jerseyans back emphasizing his wife’s bipartisan record as first lady, U.S. senator from New York and secretary of state and scoffing at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s immigration reform that includes building a wall.

“You can build all the walls you want,” said the two-term former president, noting that terrorism has no boundaries with the internet.

He said his wife will work on building bridges and work together with people overseas, ensure that job growth in America is thriving and that the United States stays competitive in the global economy.

Bill Clinton spoke about Hillary’s passion on health care reform and women’s and children’s issues in the United States and overseas.

The crowd included nine-year-old Jackson Jankowicz, of Hillsborough, and his grandmother Eve Jankowicz, of Monroe.

Jackson with a smile said his aspiration is to become president of the United States one day. In his hands, he held a National Geographic book “Our Country’s Presidents” in hopes that number 42 would sign it.

He noted that among his favorite presidents are Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy.

Hillary Clinton is the front-runner candidate for the Democratic Party against candidate Bernie Sanders.

The New Jersey primary is June 7.
