• A night of comedy, dinner and gift auctions to benefit The Seeing Eye will be held at Sterling Gardens, Matawan, on Sept. 29. Admission is $38 per person. • The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County, Freehold Township, will welcome Chris Tashima, Academy Award winning director, and actor of “Visas and Virtue,” on Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. Admission is $8 for museum members and $10 for non-members. • The Jersey Shore Rose Society will host its 45th annual Rose Show from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at  Deep Cut Gardens, 152 Red Hill Road, Middletown. • The Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education will meet at the district offices, 54 Main St., Englishtown, at 7:30 p.m. on the following dates: Sept. 6 (committee of the whole) and Sept. 20 (regular action meeting). Meetings are open to the public. Details: 732-786-2500.

• A B-17, B-24, B-25 and a P-51 will visit Monmouth Executive Airport, Route 34, Wall Township, from Aug 24-28. The planes are presented by the Collins Foundation as the ” Wings of Freedom” tour. Admission: $12, permits guests to explore the aircraft when they are not flying and to speak with staff about the operation of the aircraft.

• Monmouth County will host document shredding events on the following dates: Sept. 17, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Freehold Township municipal building, corner of Schanck and Stillwells Corner roads, and Oct. 1, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Colts Neck municipal building, 124 Cedar Drive. • Freehold Art Society will meet at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan, on Sept. 21 at 6:45 p.m. Freehold Township artist Hillary Binder-Klein will present “Let’s Talk About Framing” and discuss how art work can be enhanced by using one of three attractive framing choices. • “Digging for Roots in the Garden State” will be the topic at the Sept. 11  Monmouth County Genealogy Society general meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Center, 72 Broad St., Eatontown. The speaker will be Michelle Chubenko, a professional genealogist whose company, Jersey Roots Genealogy, performs research using statewide sources at the state archives and other local repositories for northern and central New Jersey. • The Jersey Shore Rose Society will meet on Aug. 27 in the Community Room, Arbor Terrace Shrewsbury, 864 Shrewsbury Ave., Tinton Falls. From 1-1:30 p.m., there will be a beginner clinic conducted by consulting rosarians. • The 19th annual Citizen Police Academy will be held at the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Center, Freehold Township, beginning Sept. 20 (six Tuesdays, 6-8 p.m., no fee). Citizen Police Academy provides an overview of law enforcement services in Monmouth County. Applications are available to county residents age 18 or older who have no criminal record. • On Sept. 20, Brandeis University Professor Thomas Doherty will speak about The Great American (Television) Novel. Doherty is a professor of American Studies and a cultural historian with special interests in Hollywood cinema. The luncheon in Freehold Township is sponsored by the New Jersey Region of the Brandeis National Committee. Proceeds will support research into neurodegenerative diseases. • The 15th annual Walk With Joe, a memorial 5-kilometer walk, will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 at Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Route 33, Manalapan. The walk honors Joe Driscoll, Christopher Gray and Tom McCann, area residents who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. • The Monmouth County Genealogy Society will present its fall workshop, “An In-Depth Look at Federal Census Records,” on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Community Center, 72 Broad St., Eatontown. Four presenters will focus on that topic. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $15 for society members ($20 at the door) and $20 for non-members. • The Freehold Township Education Foundation will host its fifth annual Monte Carlo Night fundraiser from 6-11 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Eagle Oaks Country Club, Howell. There will be casino games, a gift basket auction and a silent auction. Tickets are $84 to $100. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Freehold Township K-8 School District. • New Jersey Blood Services, which supplies blood products and services to 60 hospitals throughout the state, is in need of volunteers at blood drives. • The Freehold Borough Arts Council will publish its first community cookbook with recipes from residents and restaurants. Proceeds will support local arts. Interested individuals may submit a favorite family recipe and an anecdote about the recipe. Categories are appetizers, soups, salads, vegetables, entrees and desserts.
