Christopher P. McHugh, 21, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, was charged on Aug. 18 with sexual assault in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child in the third degree, according to a statement prepared by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief John Zebrowski of the Sayreville Police Department.

McHugh, who is a volunteer at the Morgan First Aid Squad in Sayreville and a full-time EMT for Stress Free Medical Transportation in Edison, was being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick, waiting for bail to be set, as of press time.

During the investigation, it was determined that McHugh allegedly met and exchanged information with the victim via Facebook. The assault reportedly took place on Aug. 17. When McHugh was arrested, he was reportedly wearing his Morgan First Aid Squad Shirt, officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Daniel Ellmyer of the Sayreville Police Department at 732-525-5450 or Detective Felix De La Cruz of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4499.
