“Beauty and The Beast” will be presented by students at 7 p.m. Nov. 18-19 at the Marlboro Memorial Middle School, 71 Nolan Road. Tickets are $5 in advance and at the door.

First published in 1740, the original tale has been adapted through the centuries, but its theme remains unchanged and its popularity grows, according to the press release.

This adaptation, written by Michele L. Vacca, evolved from the traditional French fairy tale in which the ever-familiar and arrogant Prince is transformed into a beast. His beautiful captive, Belinda, discovers that real beauty comes from within.

“From the audition process right up to the final performance, there is a magical bond formed throughout the cast that only a drama student understands. We become a team, a family, and ‘once upon a time’ is where our never-ending tale of friendship unfolds,” director Robin Shatsky said.

Shatsky’s production team includes production supervisor Randi Maskery and Cynthia Hicks, adviser of the Art and Scenery Club.
