October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Hightstown is displaying pink ribbons throughout downtown to increase breast cancer awareness and prevention. The pink ribbon is an international symbol of breast cancer awareness and helps support for women with breast cancer. About one in eight U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Thanks to the research efforts and dramatic im´provements in cancer research, treatment and early detection, millions of women are surviving breast cancer today. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. 
