Middletown police investigating fatal crash

MIDDLETOWN — On Oct. 26, at approximately 1:36 p.m., the Middletown Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian who was struck and killed, according to an official report.

The report also said that the crash occurred in front of the campus of Christian Brothers Academy, located at 850 Newman Springs Road in the Lincroft section of Middletown.

In the updated report, the pedestrian was identified as Brother James Leahy, 88. Brother Leahy had recently retired from active ministry and had resided at the campus.

The driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Nicole Bruno, 25, of Manalapan, remained at the scene of the accident and has cooperated with the police during the investigation, according to the updated report.

 

The crash is being investigated by Ptl. Michael Reuter of the Middletown Police Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone with information can contact Reuter at 732-615-2100.
