MANALAPAN – Police charged a resident of Freehold with obstructing the administration of the law and multiple motor vehicle violations following his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident on Nov. 2.
Police said that at 1:37 a.m., a 24-year-old woman from Parlin, Middlesex County, reported that her vehicle was struck while she was parking on Pease Road.
The suspect vehicle left the area and was later located unoccupied on Tennent Road. An investigation revealed that the driver and a passenger had fled the scene on foot, according to police.
The driver was identified as Nicholas F. Magill, 34, of Freehold, and he was located by Patrolman Kimberly Whitehill and apprehended by Patrolman Dennis O’Brien about one hour later following a brief foot pursuit.
Police said that during the course of the investigation, it was determined Magill’s vehicle had allegedly struck another vehicle on Taylors Mills Road.
Magill was transported to police headquarters, processed and released. Police said the passenger in Magill’s vehicle has not been located. Patrolman Brian Cruse investigated the collisions.
In other incidents reported by police:
• On Oct. 30 at 9:39 a.m., Patrolman Ross Dessel responded to Navajo Road for a report of a motor vehicle theft. A Manalapan resident told the officer that unknown individuals stole her 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee from her residence. The vehicle was reported to have been unlocked and parked in the driveway at the time it was taken.
• On Oct. 29 at 12:06 p.m., officers responded to Walgreens, Route 33, to investigate a report of fraudulent activity. Store management told the officers that two black women between the ages of about 20 to 30 each attempted to buy small items with counterfeit $100 bills. When management determined the bills were counterfeit, the suspects fled the area in a white four-door sedan.
• On Oct. 27 at 1:31 p.m., officers responded to a business on Route 522 for a report of a burglary and criminal mischief that occurred between 5:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and 10:30 a.m. Oct. 27. Unknown individuals cut a hole in a shed, causing damage to the shed’s cover. It was not immediately known if anything was removed from the shed. Detective Jared Aronson is investigating the incident.
