Girl Scout Troop 1330 from Leonardo celebrated World Kindness Week by participating in a global Dance for Kindness flash mob in Red Bank. The flash mob featured over 200 people in Red Bank joining more than 12,000 people worldwide, all dancing at the same time.

“Our troop has been doing it for three years now. It is so rewarding,” said Ruth Ann McBee, leader of the Girl Scout Junior troop. “Our girls love being involved with Kindness Week and sharing what they learned with their family and their school.”

Dance for Kindness is a movement that promotes unity and optimism around the world. Troop 1330’s dance occurred on World Kindness Day on Nov. 13, the start of World Kindness Week.

Lessons taught during World Kindness Week included teaching how people can look beyond themselves, the boundaries of their country and their culture, race and religion.

The Girl Scouts concluded their World Kindness Week activities on Nov. 18 in Middletown during Middletown Helps Its Own. The girls helped separate and box holiday food for those in need.

“We are all citizens of the world, and kindness is the common thread that unites us all,” said McBee. “I am so proud of my girls and they are so proud of themselves. They may be children, but they can make a difference. They can create positive change in the people around them simply by using kindness.”
