Local law enforcement agencies will be cracking down on drunk drivers as part of the 2016 statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Year-End Holiday Crackdown” campaign.

Through Jan. 1, local and state law enforcement officers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols, looking for motorists who may be driving while intoxicated, according to information provided by the Old Bridge Police Department.

The campaign helps to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving through high visibility enforcement and public education tools.

The Old Bridge Police Department offers the following advice:

Designate a driver who will not be consuming alcohol;

Take mass transit, a taxicab or other public transportation;

Spend the night where the activity is being held;

Report impaired drivers to law enforcement by dialing #77 in New Jersey; and

Always use a seatbelt regardless of seating position in the vehicle.
