• Bob Mellert and Ellen Simonetti of the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Monmouth County will discuss herbal gardening at 7 p.m. March 14 at a meeting of the Allentown Garden Club. They will explore the general use of herbs and the proper growing conditions necessary to make them thrive. Space is limited. Registration is required by calling 609-259-7565.

• The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County, Freehold Township, will offer “Make Your Own Purim Grogger” for children ages 4-6 (accompanied by an adult) and ages 7-15 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. March 5. Admission is $10 per child (includes materials). To reserve a space, call 732-252-6990.

• The YMCA of Western Monmouth County, Freehold Township, will host a pickleball tournament on March 16. The event is open to the community. Categories include men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Entry is $30 per team or $15 per individual. Proceeds will benefit the YCares financial assistance program. • The spring sessions of “Dancing by the Peddie Lake with Candace Woodward-Clough,” offering instruction in swing, foxtrot, waltz and Latin dancing, will be held at 112 Etra Road, Hightstown. • Basket and Bag Bingo presented by the Cookstown Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary will be held on April 8 at the New Egypt Elks, 105 Lakewood Road (Route 528), New Egypt. • Registration is open for the 2017 HEWYBL spring flag football season. The league is open to players (boys and girls) ages 4 to 18. The registration deadline is March 21 (late fee after Feb. 19) and the season will run from early April until early June. Games are played at Hancock Field in East Windsor. HEWYBL flag football typically draws players from Allentown, Cranbury, East Windsor, Hamilton, Hightstown, Millstone Township , Robbinsville, West Windsor and other surrounding towns. • The Ashley Lauren Foundation will host its sixth annual Butterfly Ball on Feb. 25 at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch. The theme will be “Dancing For Our Stars.” The goal of the Ashley Lauren Foundation is to ease the journey when pediatric cancer is diagnosed by providing direct financial assistance, material assistance, emotional support and more.
