Loyola University women’s basketball freshman Stephanie Karcz was selected to the Patriot League’s All-Defensive Team and All-Rookie Team accolades March 3.

Karcz is the lone freshman to be named to the All-Defensive Team this season and is Loyola’s second selection to the team since it joined the league for the 2013-14 season. The former Middletown High School South star is also one of two guards voted to this year’s All-Rookie Team.

A four-time The Rock Patriot League Rookie of the Week selection, Karcz finished the regular season third on the team in scoring with 9.6 points per game. She also led the Greyhounds in steals and rebounds, ranking second in the league with 2.5 steals per game and eighth with 6.4 rebounds per contest.

Karcz becomes Loyola’s third Patriot League All-Rookie Team honoree, as teammates Lisa Mirarchi (2013-14) and Bri Betz-White (2014-15) also collected the honor. Betz-White was a first team All-Patriot League selection.

Loyola opened Patriot League Tournament play March 4 at home against Lehigh University.
