No Stigma Network plans workshop

No Stigma Network, a local nonprofit organization, will host “Life Planning: Helping Families Plan for the Future of a Loved One with a Disability” on April 1.

The presenter will be Jason Miller, director of social services, Planned Lifetime Assistance Network of New Jersey (PLAN/NJ). The purpose of the workshop is to educate families who have a loved one with a significant disability about the importance of planning for the individual’s future support, according to a press release.

The session will address planning for issues such as independent living supports, estate planning, and legal and financial protections.

Topics include how to implement a future life plan for people with disabilities, guardianship, special needs trusts, home visit monitoring and advocacy. Sample documents will be provided to guide families in planning for the future of their children, according to the press release.

The program will take place at CentraState Healthcare System’s Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus, Health Awareness Center, 901 W. Main St., Freehold Township. Check-in will begin at 9 a.m. and light refreshments will be available. The presentation will start promptly at 10 a.m.
