‘Movie Day’ a success for Millstone Township educational foundation

MILLSTONE – The Millstone Township Foundation for Educational Excellence raised more than $5,000 from its sixth annual “Family Movie Day and Gift Basket Raffle” held on Feb. 12 at the Millstone Performing Arts Center.

Proceeds will help provide grant funding for innovative classroom programs, educational opportunities for students, staff development, and state-of-the-art teaching materials that are beyond the scope of the general school budget to enrich education for the Millstone Township K-8 School District’s public school students, according to a press release from the foundation.

The event opened with pre-movie activities and a gift basket raffle, new this year, which featured more than 25 fun and family themed baskets. There was also a photo booth, minute-to-win-it games with prizes, crafts, face painting and temporary tattoos, according to the press release.

The activities were followed by a screening of “The Secret Life of Pets.”

• General Sponsors – Caravaglio Self Defense and Fitness Training; Molino’s Italian Kitchen; the Law Office of Shannon Hennessy Pulaski, LLC; the Pratt family; the Pyhel family and Joseph R. Raccuglia, MD, Family Medicine

The following provided donations for the event: Penny’s Petals – carnations;         Pure Events – photo booth; South Brunswick Animal Hospital, Dr. Doug Cotler, DVM, – gift basket supplies; and Vesuvio’s Pizzeria and Family Restaurant – a portion of the proceeds from the business’s food truck that was on site, according to the press release.

The foundation has awarded more than $523,700 in grants to Millstone Township schools since 2002.
