Man charged in North Brunswick Mother’s Day homicide

NORTH BRUNSWICK – Authorities have charged a Piscataway man with fatally shooting a North Brunswick resident last week.

Jerome Davis, 40, of Piscataway, was charged with murder and burglary following an investigation into the May 14 fatal shooting of Patrick Olarerin, 57, of North Brunswick, according to information provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Kenneth McCormick of the North Brunswick Police Department.

Davis, who has been in custody since May 14, was charged with the homicide on May 19, officials said.

He was charged during an investigation by Detective Seeta Jones of the North Brunswick Police Department and Detective David Abromaitis of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police began the investigation after the victim was found in his apartment at 5:15 a.m. on May 14 and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died a short time later, according to the statement.
