The loss eliminated Holbrook for the Little League World Series and ended what was a wonderful summer for the team from Jackson. Its run included the state championship and the Mid-Atlantic Region title.

After Holbrook had opened the World Series with a 7-6 loss to Fairfield American on Aug. 17, it rebounded and erupted to score a 15-5 victory over Grosse Point Woods-Shore of Michigan on Aug. 19. The Jackson team then beat the West champion, Rancho Santa Margarita, California, 12-9, on Aug. 21 to avoid elimination.

Fairfield American will now play on Aug. 24 against the winner of the Southeast champion Greenville, North Carolina, and the Southwest champion Lufkin, Texas.
