Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rev. Jill Hubbard-Smith of the United Methodist Churches of Atlantic Highlands and Navesink will give the benediction.

Music will be provided by Jessica Wong and the Pipes and Drums of the Atlantic Watch. The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Honor Guard and park system staff will also take part in the ceremony, according to a press release.

The ceremony will be held rain or shine. All are welcome to attend. In addition to the ceremony, the park system will mark the occasion by extending Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook’s hours until 11 p.m. from Sept. 9-11 to provide additional opportunities to visit the memorial.

The memorial is set against views of New York City and has three symbolic components: a timeline walkway of the events of Sept. 11, 2001; a stone base carved with the names, ages and hometowns of the 147 Monmouth County residents who lost their lives that day; and an eagle sculpture with a beam from one of the fallen World Trade Center towers, according to the press release.
