Gloria Zastko, Realtors sponsors its 27th Heritage Day booth on Oct. 7 in North Brunswick.

Plans are well underway for the North Brunswick 35th Annual Heritage Day, which will take place on Oct. 7 from 1 to 10 p.m. at the North Brunswick Community Park on Route 130, near the Renaissance Shopping Plaza. In case of bad weather, a rain date of Oct. 8 has been scheduled. The event is designed to celebrate North Brunswick’s history and the rich heritage of the people who live there.

Andrew Zastko, broker/owner of Gloria Zastko, Realtors, has been involved with Heritage Day for the past 27 years, and has had the privilege of chairing this township-wide event for the past 19 years.

Zastko invites “everyone to join for a day of fun where we become one to celebrate our heritage.” Zastko is a lifetime resident of North Brunswick, who believes “in giving back to the community.”

“I want to give recognition to all committee members who work on a voluntary basis throughout the year, and of course, on the day of the event, and to the Township workers who volunteer their time and efforts,” Zastko said.

With something for everyone, this year’s event features the music of local bands, dancing, food, beer garden, rides, crafters, petting zoo, horse and buggy rides and more. There will also be a beard/moustache contest. The bands who will take the stage include Oktoberfest music by the Metropolitan Festival Bank, the Latin beat of Tempo Alegre, Jazz and Blues by GMJ Groove and the Reggae sounds of RazRoot.

We are excited for the 3rd Heritage Day Idol competition as musicians showcase
their talent!

The Ann Marie Chandlee Heritage Day Award ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. The ceremony will be followed by 90s Tribute band, Nine Deeez Nite, and fireworks to cap off the evening.

The event is made possible by grant funding from the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, The Heritage Commission and New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Dept. of State.
