UPPER FREEHOLD – Incumbent Republican Dr. Robert Frascella has won a new three-year term on the Township Committee in Upper Freehold Township.

On Nov. 7, Frascella was re-elected with 1,565 votes, turning back a challenge from Democrat Elliot Wiesner, who received 878 votes, according to results posted online by the Monmouth County Clerk’s office. The results are unofficial until they are certified by the county.

With the victory, Republicans will continue to hold all five committee seats.

Frascella, who is serving as mayor in 2017, has been a resident of Upper Freehold for 14 years and a member of the governing body for nine years. He said he sought re-election to continue his service to residents and to maintain fiscal responsibility.

“I intend to continue working with neighboring towns on shared services agreements that make fiscal sense for Upper Freehold,” Frascella said. “I will continue to pursue preservation of worthy farmland and keep Upper Freehold the rural gem it is today.”

One issue Frascella said he intends to continue to address is road maintenance.

“With over 190 road miles of township roads and a limited budget, we have developed a road inventory system to prioritize repairs,” he said. “Each year we apply for and receive New Jersey Department of Transportation grants to lessen the burden on the taxpayer while improving road conditions.”
